Rotary Club of Chicagoland Korean Holds First Meeting of the Rotary Year.
Dr. Byoung I. Suh’s Generous Contributions to the Club & KAAC

The Rotary Club of Chicagoland Korean held its first regular meeting of the Rotary year on July 24, 2023. The meeting was well-attended, with over 80% of its members and all 7 new members in attendance.

The evening was a night of getting to know each other better and exchanging ideas on the club’s upcoming programs such as fundraising program, local community service projects, etc. to best serve the community.

One of the surprise highlights of the evening was the pledge of BISCO Charitable Foundation to provide financial support for the Club's charitable programs. Dr. Byong In Suh, President of BISCO and a past President of the club, presented a check to Dr. John Kim, President of the Club. The check combined with a pledge of additional support is a significant contribution that will allow the club to continue its work in the community.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of a check for $50,000 from Dr. Byong In Suh to Julie Choi, a club member and the president of the Korean American Association of Chicago. The check will be used to support the K-Festival, a celebration of Korean culture and heritage that will be held on August 26th at Maggie Daley Park in Chicago IL. The club is an active participant and supporter of the event.

The K-Festival is a great opportunity for people in the metro Chicago area to enjoy and learn about Korean culture and heritage. The festival is open to the public and is free to attend. The Club will be participating in the festival by hosting a PR booth and volunteering wherever support is needed.

The club is striving to be a vibrant and active organization that is committed to making a difference in the community. The club's members are dedicated to "Service above Self" and "Creating Hope in the World."
